MATCH PREVIEW: NOTTS COUNTY
Cambridge United travel to Meadow Lane tomorrow afternoon to face Notts County in Sky Bet League Two (K.O. 3:00pm).
Following Tuesday’s record breaking Football League win, in which the U’s knocked seven goals past Morecambe at the Abbey Stadium, Shaun Derry takes his men to his former club looking to extend their current unbeaten run in League Two to six games.
Luke Berry, Harrison Dunk, Mark Roberts, Zeli Ismail and Ben Williamson were all on the score sheet in the week, whilst Will Norris secured his third consecutive clean sheet alongside a sturdy United defence, who have now not conceded a goal in over 280 minutes.
Ryan Donaldson returned to the bench in the week as he took another step closer to recovering from a knee problem, but a late assessment will be made on centre back Leon Legge as to whether he is ready to step back in for the U’s.
The hosts will be looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats at the hands of Barnet and Mansfield in the last seven days.
Mark Cooper’s men are currently sat in 17th, 15 points behind the U’s, and will be desperate to complete the season with a flourish of positive results to improve their League position.
A 3-1 victory for the U’s saw Shaun Derry pick up his first home win as Cambridge United Manager in December, and they will keen to complete a League double over the magpies on Saturday.
Derry commented: “It’s a game we are all looking forward to, and we want to take a large amount of confidence to Meadow Lane from Tuesday night’s quite unique result.
“Coming into a game like this weekend’s match, with the big stadium and good players who have under-performed, you just don’t know what you are going to be up against.
“All we can concentrate on is us and that has been the message to the players, with three games to go let’s just aim to control the controllable.”
Tickets for the match will be available on the gate at Meadow Lane for travelling supporters making the journey to Nottinghamshire.
