MATCH PREVIEW: MORECAMBE VS CAMBRIDGE UTD

Globe Arena – Kick Off 7.45pm

Cambridge United travel to the Globe Arena this evening to take on Morecambe FC in Sky Bet League Two (Kick Off 7.45pm)

Following an encouraging performance against Accrington Stanley at the Abbey Stadium on Saturday, the U’s will be eager to secure their first result under new Manager Shaun Derry with this evening’s clash providing the first opportunity to bounce back quickly.

Only Greg Taylor is unavailable from Saturday’s match day squad, after the right back suffered an injury that prevented him from playing the second period, whilst Keith Keane also continues his recovery.

This evening’s opponents Morecambe are three places above the U’s in the Sky Bet League Two ladder, but also searching for their first win in three games and win for United tonight would move them within one point of the Shrimps.

Last season’s away trip to the Globe Arena saw the U’s prevail 2-0 winners, with Jordan Slew and Ryan Donaldson both on the score sheet, which saw the U’s claw back a win on the over head-to-head record which Morecambe lead 3-2.

Ahead of the fixture, Cambridge United midfielder Luke Berry felt the U’s should learn some valuable lessons from Saturday’s match against Accrington.

“Saturday was a strong performance and in the first half I thought we were fantastic, but we had a sloppy five or ten minute spell that cost us.

“I felt we showed high energy and good promise across the pitch for a long period of the game and I’m sure we’ll build on that.

“We possibly could have forced something at the end of the Accrington game but didn’t and we need to work on that against Morecambe.”
