SHREWSBURY 1-1 U'S

Kaikai's late strike secures point for United

SULLAY Kaikai's stoppage time strike secured a well-earned point for the U's at Shrewsbury this afternoon.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's pin-point cross was parried away by Jayson Leutwiler, into the path of Kaikai, who made no mistake in firing home and sending the traveling U's into raptures.

The hosts had taken the lead in the 16th minute, Bobby Grant saw his second effort find the bottom corner after Chris Dunn had done well to tip Grant's initial strike onto the bar.

Matt Harrold had United's best chance of the first-half on 25.  Ryan Donaldson found Harrold ten yards out, but he was denied by a last-ditch challenge.

Jordan Slew and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing were proving problematic for the Shrews, with Bobby Grant and Tyrone Barnett looking dangerous for the hosts.

Shrewsbury were on top during the opening stages of the second period, Chris Dunn was at full stretch to deny Jordan Clark on 51.  Leutwiler prevented the U's equalising on 53, saving Mendez-Laing's deflected strike with his legs.  Three minutes later and Michael Nelson's strike cannoned off the post from a corner.

Bobby Grant was still proving a nuisance for United, Chris Dunn again at full stretch to deny Grant his second on 63.  The U's continued to push for the equaliser and came close again on 78, Robbie Simpson's free-kick crept inches over Leutwiler's bar, before Josh Coulson headed wide on 85.

Jordan Slew shot wide on 89 before Sullay Kaikai finally found the net for United in the fifth minute of stoppage time, right in front of the traveling U's.
