CUWFC Vs QPR Next Thursday
The Cambridge United Women’s team will play Queens Park Rangers Ladies next Thursday in a special promotional launch match at the Abbey Stadium (KO 7.45pm), with tickets on sale now!
Following the exciting announcement earlier in the year that the FA had granted permission for Cambridge Women’s Football Club to officially take on the name of Cambridge United Women’s Football Club, the special promotional launch match against the Hoops is now only one week away.
Whilst the female U’s outfit will compete in the FA Women’s Premier League South East Division One next season, their opponents QPR will compete in the league above against the likes of Tottenham Hotspurs and West Ham United, so this clash therefore pits United against a strong opposition, worthy of the occasion.
In addition to the name change, from the start of next season Cambridge Women’s FC will also take on the official Cambridge United badge and playing kit, as well as receiving additional support from the U’s who will provide further funding and sponsorship opportunities, a growing media presence and the opportunity to increase staff.
Many people will have enjoyed the heroics of England’s Lionesses at the recent Women’s World Cup in Canada, and now the U’s are offering the city a chance to experience and enjoy the ever-growing girl’s and women’s game a little closer to home!
Tickets for the clash are priced at:
Adults - £5
Under 16s - FREE
Supporters can purchase tickets online at the following link, by calling the ticket office on 01223 566 500 or by visiting the ticket office. Tickets will also be available on the gate.
Meanwhile for girls interested in showing off their football skills, Cambridge United have a number of female football opportunities lined up in the coming months.
