Having recently broken a club record for successive clean sheets, it’s perhaps not surprising that U’s goalkeeper Chris Maxwell is enjoying his football.
Maxwell, who arrived on loan from Fleetwood Town in the summer, had not been beaten for six matches ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Alfreton, a spell of more than nine hours which represents United’s longest ever sequence in league games without conceding.
“I’ve said before that I don’t think I’ve enjoyed playing football this much since I was nine or ten,” he said.
“When I was at Wrexham we had a little run similar to this without conceding a goal, but this one has been so much better because..."
