The Week Ahead: Attentions Turn to Portsmouth

Attentions turn to Portsmouth on Saturday following The U’s heavy defeat to Lincoln last weekend...

Following on from Saturday's forgetful 5-1 defeat to Lincoln City, Mark Bonner's men are back in action this Saturday, travelling to the south coast to face off against Portsmouth in League One, and tickets are available for fans to buy now through CUFCTickets.com

Quotes from the Manager, the Match Preview and Talking Points will all be available to read prior to kick-off.

Tickets for The U’s clash with Ipswich Town at The Abbey on the 16th of October have gone on sale this morning and are available to purchase through CUFCTickets.com. Please note that only supporters with a customer record or purchase history prior to 1st September 2021 are able to purchase tickets online.

Supporters with no customer record or purchase history will need to call the Ticket Office on 01223566500 or visit the ticket office in person.

On Wednesday, it’s sure to be a memorable occasion as Harrison Dunk’s Golf Day takes place at the Cambridgeshire Golf Club, with tickets, that will include a pre-round Coffee and Breakfast, 18 holes, a post-round Buffet and the opportunity to win some special prizes available to buy at CUFCDirect.com.

The event will comprise of 18 teams of four, with one current or former U’s player taking part in each team. Already confirmed are Josh Coulson, Luke Berry, Joe Ironside, John Taylor, Wes Hoolahan, Lee Philpott, Will Norris, Liam O’Neil, James Brophy, Jack Lankester, Luke Hannant and Tom Dickens.

Sponsored by BSSR Ltd., the tournament will be played using the Stapleford scoring system, with the three best scores combined per hole. Players are asked to meet at 12pm for a 12:45pm start.

Cambridge United Women excellently progressed to the next round of the cup after beating Portishead Town FC 4-0 thanks to a brace from Ruth Fox, as well as goals from Emma Jenkins and Abi Davies. The U’s will next face Hashtag United following a weeks break next week.

There was also success for the Cambridge United Women’s development side, who overcame West Ham United in an entertaining battle, winning 4-3. To follow the progress of Cambridge United Women, be sure to follow them on social media.

Cambridge United U18’s also enjoyed a successful weekend, as braces from Njoku and McConnell, as well as a goal Chipps saw The U’s run out as 5-3 winners against Stevenage. They head to MK Dons next Saturday.
