The Week Ahead: Countdown to Kick-Off

2 August 2021

The countdown to kick-off is on as the U’s start their Sky Bet League One season on Saturday at home to Oxford United…

Tickets are on sale for this weekend’s big game and can be bought online, over the phone by calling 01223 566500 (option 1) or by visiting the Abbey Stadium Ticket Office on Tuesday, Thursday or this Saturday. Click here for more information.

Season Tickets are also still available, so if you haven’t already, buy yours ahead of Saturday to secure your place for all 23 league home games. If you have ordered yours but haven’t yet collected, visit the Club Shop this week to claim your card.

The first Matchday Programme of the season will be available for supporters to view as a free digital publication on Friday, with a limited number of printed copies available from the ground. To make sure you get a printed edition for every league game, sign up for our subscription service before Wednesday.

This week sees the Community Trust start a two-week multi-activity camp in partnership with Abbey People. School holidays can be particular pressure points for some families because of increased costs (such as food and childcare) and reduced incomes.

For some children that can lead to a holiday experience gap, with children from disadvantaged families less likely to access organised out-of-school activities and more likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health. Thanks to funding from the government’s Holiday Activities & Food Programme, the Community Trust will provide healthy food and enriching, fun activities for 60 primary school aged children across the Abbey Ward who are eligible for benefit related free school meals.

Soccer Schools recommence this week for boys, girls and goalkeepers as the Club’s Youth Development Team continue to educate and entertain the football-mad children of Cambridgeshire. Click here to see what’s on offer and to book your child’s place.

Finally, Mark Bonner and a First Team player will be speaking to the press on Thursday morning, so keep it at for the latest ahead of Saturday’s big game.
