Hiram Boateng Joins U’s Until January

9 October 2020

Cambridge United have today completed a loan deal for MK Dons midfielder Hiram Boateng until January.

The 24-year old central midfielder teams up with Mark Bonner’s side to add further competition in the middle of the pitch, alongside the likes of Paul Digby, Adam May and Lewis Simper.

A product of Crystal Palace’s academy as a youngster where he went on to feature once in the Premier League for the Eagles, Boateng has since gained a great deal of experience at League Two level through loan spells with Crawley Town, Plymouth Argyle, Bristol Rovers and Northampton Town.

His most successful spell though came at Exeter City, where he made over 60 appearances in two years at St James’ Park, which led to League One MK Dons to come calling for his services in May 2019.

However, having found his game time reduced during the early stages of the current season, the midfielder switches to the Abbey to give United additional quality and depth for the busy period ahead up to the New Year.

Cambridge United Head Coach Mark Bonner commented: “We are delighted that Hiram is with us and believe this short term loan can be beneficial for all of us. Since Liam’s injury, we have been looking for someone to add competition to our squad and in Hiram we have a proven player in League Two. His experience, quality and athleticism will be a big benefit to us over the busy period ahead, and whilst it may take him a short while to get his match fitness at its peak, we will benefit greatly from having him with us.

“Hiram is motivated to play and contribute to our team and will need to transition quickly to find his way with us, but he comes hungry to play football and to kick start his season.”
