MARK BONNER NOMINATED FOR LEAGUE TWO MANAGER OF THE MONTH

Cambridge United Head Coach Mark Bonner is amongst the nominations for February’s Manager of the Month award for Sky Bet League Two.

Bonner guided the U’s to a 13 point haul from a possible 18, with four consecutive wins, one draw away at high flyers Plymouth Argyle and just one defeat.

The winner will be announced on Friday morning, with Bonner up against Cheltenham Town’s Michael Duff, Swindon Town’s Richie Wellens and Port Vale’s John Askey.

Full nominations lift here:

John Askey (Port Vale)

Slow and steady has been Vale’s progress under Askey’s astute management this season. Their consistency in February - three wins, three draws and 12 goals from six games - finally lifted his side into the play-off positions.

Mark Bonner (Cambridge United)

Bonner took over a side that had lost its previous two home games 4-0 and promptly instilled such discipline and determination that they won his first four games in temporary charge, part of a 13-point haul from six matches.

Michael Duff (Cheltenham Town)

Six wins from seven games propelled Duff’s side into the automatic promotion picture. As vital as conceding no more than a single goal in any game was their ability to score crucial late winners against Leyton Orient and Northampton.

Richie Wellens (Swindon Town)

With two games postponed, Swindon played three February games less than some of their rivals, yet such is the form that Wellens has inspired that they held onto the leadership of League Two with 10 points from four unbeaten games.
