UNITED STRENGTHEN ST NEOTS COLLABORATION WITH A QUARTET OF LOANS

Cambridge United confirm four of the Club’s young professionals - Finley Iron, Tom Dickens, Lewis Simper and Joe Neal - have joined St Neots Town on loan deals until the end of the season.

Earlier this week, the Football Club announced a new strategic collaboration alongside the Saints with Barry Corr moving into the First Team Manager position at the Premier Plus Stadium, opening a new developmental pathway for Cambridge United’s young professionals to gain experience of senior football.

Finley Iron returns to St Neots having previously featured on loan at the Premier Plus Stadium. The 19-year old keeper is joined this time by fellow young professional, striker Joe Neal, who has been recalled from his successful loan at Needham Market where he scored five times in order to switch to the Saints under the direction of Barry Corr.

Meanwhile, having last week both penned their first professional contracts at Cambridge United, central defender Tom Dickens and central midfielder Lewis Simper will also switch to St Neots where they will gain their first taste of senior football.

The loans highlight the value of the new developmental pathway created by Cambridge United’s strategic link with St Neots, for two young players who will not only experience their first loan away from the U’s Academy environment, but will do so with the added benefit of input from the Club through Barry Corr and his position as both St Neots First Team Manager and Development Coach at United.

All four loan deals are until the end of the 2019/20 season, with the option of a recall after 28 days.
