PROGRAMME PREVIEW | STEVENAGE F.C – SAM SMITH

Take a sneak peek at this weekend’s Amber Rambler and the player feature with striker Sam Smith.

The Amber Rambler will be available to buy around the ground, from the CFU Van, and in the club shop for just £3. Tickets for tomorrow’s fixture are still available online here, and will also be available in the ticket office on match day until kick off at 3:00pm.

Programme Preview:

The Reading loanee cites his move to United as the perfect destination for what was required at this point in his development, and wants to leave U’s fans in no doubt that he’ll be aiming to improve even further before the end of the campaign.

“At this stage of my career, game time is everything because you can only score goals if you are playing.

“I’m grateful to the Manager (Colin Calderwood) for trusting in me and feel like I have a big second half of the season coming up. I want to replicate to what I was doing at the start, and that should help the team to improve also.”

Typical of any good quality striker, Smith’s sights are almost always focussed firmly on his goal return, to which he says he is satisfied with so far this season but is hungry to build on.

“I was aiming for 20 goals at the start of the season. I’m on eight at the moment, halfway through the season. If I can get another eight to double it to 16, I would say that’s not a bad return for a young lad on loan.

“However, at the moment the goals for me aren’t the main objective, it has to be about the results. We know that a run of good results against the team we have got coming up, then anything can change. A lot of the teams we’ve played in the past earlier in the season, I feel we have proven to ourselves we can beat them.”
