EVAD COMMUNITY HERO - LUCA CHAMBERLAIN

28 January 2020

We are pleased to announce tonight’s Evad Community Hero of the Day, is year 6 student Luca Chamberlain from Pathfinder Primary School.

The Pathfinder Primary School are extremely proud of Luca’s achievement and nominated him for of the following:

Luca has been a pupil at Pathfinder Primary School since we opened in 2017. He is a motivated and competitive sportsman. He is extremely nurturing towards the younger members of our school community, and this has helped him to achieve the role of sports leader in the school. Luca frequently gives up time in school to support and mentor others, and enjoys taking on responsibilities. He has developed excellent relationships in school with both adults and children alike.

Luca is an extremely talented sportsman. He currently plays football for a local team in Cottenham, and is heavily involved in school football as well. In addition to football, Luca is talented at other sports including running. He recently got a silver medal at the South Cambridgeshire Schools cross country competition. Luca has represented the school in a number of other sporting competitions including tag rugby and athletics.  He also regularly attends our school running club before school on Wednesdays.

This year Luca is one of our two sports captains. To secure this role he was required to write a letter of application to our head teacher outlining why he should be selected. So far this year Luca has supported me in running the inter house cross country competition at school, where he helped guided children around the course, encouraging them all the way. He has also taken a key role in another inter house sports competition where he was required to design 3 different circuit based activities that would form part of a larger circuit session that children were completing. Luca ran these 3 stations, ensuring children knew what they were doing at all times. In his role as sports leader Luca has demonstrated skills of leadership, teamwork, determination and creativity. I am confident he will continue develop these skills further throughout this year as he performs other duties.

Luca’s passion for sport has certainly benefited him in the classroom as well. He recently was awarded star of the week for hardwork in his studies.

Congratulations Luca on your award this evening. We ask all supporters to give him a warm welcome to the field when he presents our match ball to tonight’s match referee, Chris Pollard, ahead of kick off.
