Over 200 local pupils from across Cambridgeshire’s schools, last week competed to represent Cambridge United Football Club in this season’s Utilita Kids Cup and Girls Cup.

The U’s hosted the opening local stage of each competition at Bottisham Village College last Friday, with 24 teams competing, 84 matches played and exactly 200 goals scored across both tournaments.

The action was hotly contested as boys from 12 local primary schools (Kids Cup) and Year 7/8 girls from 12 local secondary schools (Girls Cup), went head to head with a place representing Cambridge United in the Regional Finals at stake.

In the Kids Cup, Colville Primary School came out on top as they prevailed past Milton Road in the final 2-0. They will now go on to face schools representing teams such as Colchester United, Coventry City and Stevenage in the next phase of the competition.
