PROGRAMME PREVIEW:

UNITED FORWARD GEORGE MARIS CATCHES UP WITH THE MATCH DAY PROGRAMME AFTER REGISTERING THE WINNER AND HIS FIRST GOAL OF THE SEASON AGAINST YEOVIL TOWN ON TUESDAY.

The former Barnsley youngster produced the Vindis Man of the Match winning performance in midweek whilst finding the back of the net in a dominant first half display, and Maris admits the goal came as a direct result of work completed in training.

He said: “It’s always a good feeling to get your first goal of the season, and I have to say it does feel like a long time coming, I did think at the start of the year it would happen a little sooner.

“I have been practicing getting into the box a lot more during in training. It’s probably something I haven’t done enough this season, hence why I haven’t been in the goals too much but if I can keep getting in there then hopefully the goals will come.

“It was nice to get on the score sheet and I could have probably had a second but struck the outside of the post. I have to give credit to Brad who also works hard on his crossing in training, and it was a great cross on Tuesday night so it was nice for him to see that work pay off as well.”
