Cambridge United will kick off the 2020/21 season with a home clash against Carlisle United on the opening day of the Sky Bet League Two campaign, as the full fixture list is revealed.

Mark Bonner’s men will take on the Cumbrians at the Abbey on Saturday 12th September as United aim to hit the ground running and build early momentum following the long lay-off from action since the Covid-19 outbreak brought 2019/20 to a halt back in March. The U’s will of course face Birmingham City in Round One of the Carabao Cup on Saturday 5th September prior to the first fixture with Carlisle in League Two.

Meanwhile the U’s Boxing Day fixture will see them face Leyton Orient at the Abbey, followed just four days later with the short trip to Stevenage on Tuesday 29th December and then another away fixture against Grimsby Town to begin the New Year on Saturday 2nd January.

The U’s face Newport County on 10th October, which currently is expected to be the point in which reduced crowds will be allowed to return to football stadiums across the country.

Over Easter, United will face Morecambe at home on Good Friday (2nd April) and then travel to Tranmere Rovers on Easter Monday.

Other fixtures of note include the clashes with recently relegated Bolton Wanderers on Saturday 24th October and the reverse fixture away is scheduled for Tuesday 9th March. The U’s will also enjoy another trip to Valley Parade against Bradford City on the final weekend before Christmas, Saturday 19th December, and will welcome the Bantams to the Abbey on Saturday 23rd January.

The U's will complete the season on home soil against Grimsby Town on Saturday 8th May.
