Three people have been handed Football Banning Orders (FBO) by Cambridgeshire Police and an additional six have been banned by the Club from attending Cambridge United games...
The nine individuals who have been banned were found guilty of committing offences prior to Cambridge United’s FA Cup tie against Luton Town.
Those handed FBO's must not go into any football matches in the UK and are not allowed in Cambridge city centre when the U’s play at home. The six people banned by the Club must not attend any Cambridge United game - home or away - until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Cambridge United supports the police and is committed to ensuring that the Abbey Stadium is a safe, family-friendly place to watch football. The message is clear - both the Club and Police have a zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour.
Mark Wood, Dedicated Football Officer for Cambridgeshire Constabulary, said, “There is absolutely no place for this behaviour prior to football matches. The anti-social behaviour of a minority of people tarnishes the reputation of most supporters who just want to turn up and watch the match.”
Ian Mather, Cambridge United CEO, added, "We have made it clear to these individuals that their behaviour was totally unacceptable. Our message is simple to anyone who behaves in the way they did - stay away from the Abbey."
