Club partners Mead mark Mullin’s outSTANDing contribution

27 March 2021

  • Sponsors rename their stand “The Paul Mullin Stand” mid-game
  • The move is to celebrate Mullin's 25th League goal of the season, breaking the Club record for league goals in a single season

Cambridge United striker Paul Mullin has made such an impact that he had a stand named after him - in the middle of a match!

Club sponsors and lifelong fans Mead Plant and Grab unveiled the renaming of their stand the moment Mullin struck his 25th league goal of the season, breaking David Crown’s 35 year record.

The stand will revert to its former name at the end of the season.

Mead, who are a family owned plant hire and construction business are long-term U’s fans and were desperate to honour Mullin’s achievement.

Mead Director Richard Mead: “It’s been a long time since we’ve had a striker as prolific as Paul, so we wanted to pay tribute to him - as fans of the club ourselves, we wanted to do something which would resonate with fellow supporters as well. We hope Paul can carry on scoring and take us to promotion”.

Cambridge United Head of Commercial, Nick Fairbairn: “It’s a lovely touch from the guys at Mead. The Mead family were supporting the U’s all those years ago when David Crown hit 24 league goals in a season, so to be able to mark Paul Mullin’s achievement in a way which resonates with fans is extra special for them.”
