The former Manchester United and Reading Academy prospect scored eight times in 34 appearances during his first spell in CB5 during 2019/20. Prior to making the move permanent two years later, Sam clinched the League Two title the previous season with Cheltenham Town.
Undoubtedly improving by the game, Smith flourished on the right side of a front three and as the lone striker in 2021/22, plummeting 21 goals on his way to becoming the top goalscorer for the campaign.
