Happy New Year! Many people treated themselves or their families to computers at Christmas and have ventured onto the Internet for the first time, and a fair proportion of those have pointed their browsers at www.cambridgeunited.com to check out U's Net. I am delighted that many of the new visitors have signed the guestbook and used the feedback form to send their opinions and suggestions.

The holiday period is usually quieter on U's Net and the Moosenet mailing list, as a lot of those people who surf from work or college are absent. But on the U's Net web site the votes were rolling in at quite a rate for the December 'Player of the Month', and the counter recorded the 110,000th visitor earlier this week. Meanwhile on Moosenet the usual debate continued at slightly reduced levels and we were treated to several excellent match reports from the recent games. If you have e-mail access and have not already sampled Moosenet, I cannot recommend the list highly enough. The e-mail address of the list owner is under Michael Kyd's picture on the player sponsorship page, and the details on how to join automatically can be found at www.cambridgeunited.com/fans/maillist.html

I mentioned in the Boxing Day programme that Fans United 3 takes place this month. Fans of Chester City, a club currently in administration, have now put details on a web site and asked other sites to 'link' to their site so that the news can be spread as far and wide as possible. They have also provided an eye-catching graphic and I added that to U's Net this week, allowing people to click on the banner to be transported to their site.

The event has been given the name "United Colours of Football" and it takes place at the match between Chester City and Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday 15th January. This will be the third event where supporters from all Clubs are invited to attend the game to demonstrate the "positive, unifying spirit that underpins our national game".

Brighton have hosted two highly successful "Fans United" events over the last two seasons. The first drew attention to their own plight at the Goldstone Ground and last year's was to help ailing Doncaster Rovers, and at their suggestion Chester City Independent Supporters Association, in conjunction with Chester City Football Club, are hosting the third.

The United Colours of Football match on 15th January (kick off 7.45pm) is being screened live by Sky TV and is expected to receive extensive broadcast and written media coverage. The organisers hope that every Premiership and Football League Club, many non-League and some European clubs will be represented by supporters in their club colours.

Some details about tickets for the game are on the News to U's page on page 37 of this programme, but if you intend to go to Chester for the game you are warned that the game is ALL TICKET as they anticipate a capacity crowd of 6,000. They would therefore appreciate it if fans who intend to go would contact them by post, fax or phone or e-mail to let them know. Tickets are available direct from the football club and the various contact details are below:

Event Website: http://www.chester-city.co.uk/isa.htm

If anyone who attends the match would like to write a report for the web site I would be delighted to publish it.
