Roy McFarland After the win away to Torquay and then the win in the first round first leg of the Worthington Cup against Watford on Tuesday night, I am very heartened by the team's performance. In fact, the Watford game was an improvement on the Torquay victory in the League, so we are obviously building up our form.

The first forty-five minutes on Tuesday was very pleasing to watch and on the strength of that we could quite easily have been a couple of goals up on them before the interval.

We were also unlucky not to be even further ahead when there was a blatant penalty in the first half. Even more blatant than the incident in the Torquay game. But it is the referee's decision that counts and he obviously rejected our appeals. However, we won't sit back and talk about what might have been, but instead we must get on with things.

The second half was a little less exciting and Watford did come back at us. Even so there is something positive to come out of it because we still managed to cause them a lot of problems. Ronny Rosenthal managed to put in a good shot at goal but Arjan Van Heusden was very solid, whilst both Benjamin and Butler were always threatening going forward.

On Tuesday we changed our system, playing with a 4-3-3 system. This is because we tried to force Watford back and we succeeded in doing so. Later on I think Watford became more positive and tried to counteract us in the way they marked some of our players.

One thing that we do have to take into consideration is that we did miss a lot of goalscoring opportunities. I hope we don't carry on doing this because it is such a waste. We have got to look to improve on this area for both the game today and for the next leg against Watford.

We were fortunate to come away from the Cup game with only a few bumps and bruises and there were no serious injuries to report. Michael Kyd was pretty tired afterwards, but that was about it.

Now, we have just got to reflect on what I think was a really good first forty-five minutes and build on this effort for the second leg of the competition away on Tuesday at Vicarage Road.

I know Watford will really come back at us then ... they have to. But what we know is that when we go there we've got the advantage because we've got something tucked away.

However, we won't be going there to defend. We've got to go there and try and get the goals to win the tie. We know that, without doubt, we will go there and have our hands full. However, I am confident that we can do it.

As for today's game, well it is just a case of keeping things going. We've beaten Torquay away as well as beating a very strong Watford side and now we are all looking forward to Swansea. We will have our feet firmly back on the ground today after two glorious wins at the start of the season and hopefully we will come away with another good result.
