Saturday 25th March 2000 : Fans march to keep football alive

Cambridge United Supporters Association chairman Brian Attmore has asked me to bring this message to your attention:

As the Premiership gets richer and looks to Europe for its future, Nationwide League clubs are left struggling to survive. Fans are playing a key role in fundraising and campaigning to keep clubs like Crystal Palace and Barnet alive. Fans at Brighton, Bournemouth and Chester have dug deep into their own pockets to save their teams. More will do the same.

Football's governing bodies must re-direct resources to help them. The government and local councils must relax rigid planning rules so clubs can improve their grounds or build new ones which meet the standards the government and local authorities are demanding.

Please show your solidarity with fellow fans by marching in central London on Sunday April 2nd. Assemble 10.45am in Whitehall Place, off Whitehall. March via The Embankment, Bridge Street and Whitehall for a rally in Trafalgar Square at noon.

More information from KBA tel 0181-444-5346.

Would any United fans thinking of going please let me know on thecusa@btinternet.com Thanks for your support.

Brian Attmore
