Friday 24th March 2000 : Guinan to take action against Us?

Steve Guinan is reportedly considering taking legal action against Cambridge United after he was dismissed last week for "unacceptable behaviour" at the club's Sporting Dinner.

Steve GuinanAn article in the Nottingham Evening Post earlier this week says it is claimed that the 24-year-old striker was guilty of "drunkenness, food-throwing and general boisterous behaviour", and in response Guinan commented, "I'm totally bewildered by Roy McFarland's reaction and I just can't understand the way I've been treated.

"It's almost as if I've received two sentences. At first I was told that I wasn't being sacked, and then I found out that I was from a journalist in Cambridge. I've been in contact with the PFA and my agent, and I'm going to take this further."

Guinan joined third division Plymouth Argyle yesterday for the rest of the season. He will be well known there after scoring seven goals in eleven appearances for them last season whilst on loan from Nottingham Forest. He failed to score in six Division Two and three cup appearances for United.
