There are three items of news concerning players recently connected with Cambridge United. Goalkeeper Jimmy Glass left the club earlier this month after spending a few months on a non-contract basis and turning out several times for the reserves. Sacked striker Steve Guinan has today signed for third division Plymouth Argyle, where he scored seven goals in eleven games during a loan spell last season. Spurs striker Paul McVeigh, who played two trial games for the reserves and scored twice against Leyton Orient, has been training with Norwich City this week. The Northern Ireland international was reportedly poised to sign for the U's on loan until the end of the season, but on the day the deal was supposed to be completed Roy McFarland had to juggle his limited loan options and signed Burnley left-back Tom Cowan for a month instead. McVeigh is known to the Canaries' new manager Bryan Hamilton from Northern Ireland international duty. |
