Friday 17th March 2000 : Teenager signs contract extension

Teenage defender Martin McNeil has signed a one year extension to his contract.

Martin McNeilThe 19-year-old joined the Club at the age of nine, signed schoolboy forms when he was 14, and made his first team debut last season when he enjoyed an extended run in the first team while Marc Joseph was injured. He did well enough to keep Joseph on the bench for a few games, and this season he stepped up again when Andy Duncan broke his leg and has been almost ever-present.

He signed a one year contract extension in September which took him through to 2002, and this latest extension commits him to Cambridge United until the end of the 2002-2003 season.

"I was delighted to sign," McNeil said today. "It's nice to have some security and a bit more money."
