Sunday 5th March 2000 : Youth team win while Lamey scores for Hitchin

Cambridge United's youth team continued their winning ways yesterday when beating Cardiff City's youth team 2-0 at the Simoco ground in their second Premier Division fixture. Both goals were scored by Daniel Chillingworth.

Youth team striker Nathan Lamey, who has been in prolific form for the youth and reserve teams this season, got off to a winning start with Hitchin Town by scoring their goal in a 3-1 defeat at Aylesbury. Lamey has joined Hitchin on a non-contract basis to gain experience but also to help them out because former Hitchin striker Zema Abbey is staying at the Abbey rather than being loaned back as originally proposed when he signed for the U's last month.

Meanwhile Guiseley centre forward Simon Parke, who has been on trial with United and scored for the reserves last week, was on target for the Unibond League Premier Division side in their 2-1 defeat at Stalybridge. Parke is expected to return for another trial game with United.
