The initial press release regarding the signature of Danish midfielder John Hansen gave some incorrect details regarding his appearances for previous clubs. Research by United fans and supporters of his previous clubs have confirmed that he made a total of 53 appearances for Esbjerg, scoring 5 goals in total. This season he was used sparingly in the first team and recorded just seven appearances.

With regard to his European experience, a contact of Moosenetter Simon 'Shaggy' Gleave has confirmed that Hansen made four appearances for his former club OB Odense. In September 1994 he made an 88th minute appearance as substitute in OB's 2-1 UEFA Cup win at Boavista, and in June and July 1997 he played three matches in the UEFA Intertoto Cup for OB, starting once and coming off the bench twice, scoring two goals in the process.
