Thursday 29th June 2000 : Allotments sale approved - now for the DETR

"News just in" at 5.30pm - the sale and change of use of the allotment land has been formally approved and the final hurdle is the DETR.

The Leisure Committee of the City Council have formally approved the sale and change of use of the allotment land required for the stadium redevelopment, and will now refer the matter to the DETR - hopefully for their final approval. The thousands of petition signatures collected earlier this year will be sent to John Prescott's department to support the application.

General Manager Colin Davies will make a statement on the matter to U's Net tomorrow.
