Wednesday 14th June 2000 : Photographic history - an appeal to the fans |
|
A small group of Cambridge United fans have started work on a commissioned photographic history of the club to be published by Tempus Publishing Ltd. The book will be one of a series of sporting and social histories produced by the company, with projects already completed for some country cricket clubs and League football teams. One of the latest completed was for Crewe Alexandra F.C.
250 photographs are needed, with the group looking to cover every aspect of Cambridge United since its formation. Special events, travel trips, social occasions, as well as action shots are needed. They are appealing to fans to lend them original non-copyright photographs so that they can keep costs to a minimum. If the group receives any profits from the publication, these are to be donated to Cambridge United Football Club and additionally the club will receive £5 from the publisher for every copy sold in the Club Shop. Graham Nurse stated, "The book will be published in September 2001 at a projected cost of £9.99. The publishers will need original photographs but these will be returned to the owners when the project is completed. It is our intention to give a credit in the book to everyone who lends us material for the project. We particularly want to find early material, but of course, photographs from any period that have not previously published would be of particular interest. "If anyone has memorabilia, this too would be useful as we could arrange to photograph them. Not only will this be an important addition to the recorded history of Cambridge United but also it gives fans the opportunity of helping to raise money for the club." If anyone is able to help, they can contact any member of the project team or co-ordinator Brian Attmore by e-mailing him at brian.attmore@btinternet.com
