| Thursday 6th January 2000 : Early departure for Cup date |
|
The Cambridge United squad departed today for the FA Cup fourth round tie at Wrexham, travelling a day early in order to have a 'team building' break. Ahead lies a Cup match that could provide not just a cash windfall from progression to the fifth round, but also a springboard for the second half of the season. Even the most gloomy supporters have acknowledged the improvement on the pitch in recent games, and terrace pundits and professionals alike have pointed to the bad luck and narrow decisions that have cost United points. But the improvement will have to be both consistent and coupled with a genuine change in fortune in order to produce the miraculous run of results required to escape the relegation trapdoor. Early indications are that United will be unchanged for the match at Wrexham, which is expected to attract several hundred U's supporters. |
