| Tuesday 4th January 2000 : United may appeal Kavanagh sending off |
|
Jason Kavanagh became the second United player to be sent off in consecutive away games, but Roy McFarland has indicated that there may be an appeal against yesterday's decision. The recent signing from Stoke City received his marching orders for a second yellow card in the 83rd minute, having already been booked for a foul in the 27th minute, but McFarland believes there is some doubt about the second offence. He told the Cambridge Evening News: "The first booking, for a tackle, was very harsh, and Jason said he never made contact in the second incident with the player who jumped in at him. If the video, which we should receive tomorrow, confirms that we will try to get the sending off quashed. You can appeal against a red card, which is what Jason's second booking was, in effect." |
