| Sunday 27th February 2000 : McFarland on defeat |
|
Roy McFarland has mystified many supporters with his comments after yesterday's defeat to Millwall. After the home defeat by Blackpool last weekend he admitted it was a mistake to not 'rotate' his squad after the away win at Notts County last Tuesday, but yesterday he again stuck with the side that won at Bury on Tuesday night and United again plunged to a below-par home defeat. To Radio Cambridgeshire after the match he commented that he thought United had played well at times, saying, "I don't think the fans can be too disappointed with today's performance, we played some really good football." He also confirmed that right-back Jason Kavanagh was substituted in the first half after feeling the hamstring injury that had ruled him out for a couple of weeks, and the decision was taken not to risk him any longer. In today's Sport First newspaper he said, "We shot ourselves in the foot by giving them early goals and when we carved our chances their keeper made some good saves. We just didn't get the breaks." |
