  Wednesday 23rd February 2000 : Reserves romp against Gills

The reserves won 5-1 at the Abbey this afternoon against a Gillingham side which included Marcus Browning, Carl Asaba and Rodney Rowe. Two trialists were on show: David Kasterlein the Dutch defender who also played against Fulham last week, and big centre forward Simon Parke from Guiseley.

The goals were scored by Neil Mackenzie (2), Michael Kyd, Nathan Lamey and Parke, and on-lookers commented that Mackenzie had reacted well to being dropped from the first team and played some excellent football as well as scoring two good goals,

Cambridge United: Glass, Tann, Cockrill, Mackenzie, Kasterlein, Chenery, Abbey, Preece, Kyd, Parke, Lamey.
Subs: Haniver, Mercer, Ingham, Gibson, Howe.

Gillingham: Mitten, Morris, McGlinchey, Miller, White, Nosworthy, Spiller, Browning, Asaba, Rowe, Pinnock.
Subs: Neal, Austin, Rose.
