Roy McFarland wants Danish trialist John Hansen to boost United's faltering season.

The 25-year old Esjberg midfielder impressed in last week's reserve win at Leyton Orient when the U's ran out 7-3 winners and, with Alex Russell likely to be missing for several weeks and Neil Mackenzie struggling for form and confidence, McFarland would like to sign Hansen.

"Alex supplied something a bit special," he commented in the Cambridge Evening News. "Neil Mackenzie unfortunately is struggling to provide that sort of creative play at the moment, so we need to bring somebody in."

Reportedly Esjberg are prepared to let Hansen leave for as little as £5,000, leaving McFarland to agree terms with the player.
