| Thursday 10th February 2000 : Striker signs - Zema Abbey-bound |
|
Cambridge United swooped to sign a new striker today, the appropriately named Zema Abbey. He impressed Roy McFarland during a successful two week trial and signed today for a nominal fee that will increase with first team appearances. Abbey will probably return to Hitchin Town on loan until the end of the season but United will have the option to recall him at any time. 22-year-old dread-locked Abbey, who scored 20 goals last season, has notched 11 so far this season and is described as a striker with a physical presence and a direct running style. He is the younger brother of Luton Town goalkeeper Nathan Abbey. |
