| Monday 7th February 2000 : Exclusive: Treatment room update from Ken Steggles |

If you have any questions for Ken please drop me a line.
Asked if it is the same problem with his thigh that has already forced him to miss much of the season, Ken replied, "It's too soon to know but it does look as though it's the same problem. "He has had a scan today and will see the ortho. tomorrow, and we hope the results of the scan will identify the problem. To answer the obvious question, yes he did have a scan before but it didn't show anything, but as it's an acute injury the surgeon is hoping this time the scan will show a 'hot spot' on the films. "So although it's too early to know if it's the same problem again it doesn't look too good. It's the outside of the left thigh again." Andy Duncan, who had an operation to remove a spur of bone from his heel last week: "We don't envisage any problem with Andy. He's a wee bit sore but he did have quite a wedge of bone taken away. He's still working, but he's on a modified work schedule at the moment. He will have the stitches out next week and the surgeon is confident he can get back to normal training after that." Jason Kavanagh: "He is recovering from a hamstring problem. I think we turned a corner today - I hesitate to say that after we talked about Alex Russell in those terms! - but we turned a corner with Jason and he was doing really well today. In the next couple of days he should be able to return to full training, maybe by Thursday or Friday." Neil Mustoe: "He's with me purely as a precaution as he had a sore thigh after the game. He was in for a little bit of treatment yesterday and we're keeping him off for a few days as a precaution." My thanks as ever to Ken for taking the time to keep us informed. |
