Wolves defender Adrian Williams has rejected a loan move to Cambridge United. The 6ft 2in centre half has been told by manager Colin Lee that his contract will not be renewed in the summer but the Welsh international decided against the opportunity for first team football at the Abbey.

Since details of his availability were released 28-year-old Williams has been linked with three clubs in Division Two. Wycombe were reportedly close to signing him but were unable to agree financial details with Wolves regarding the player's wages. Then Colchester United made an approach but Williams, whose career at Molineux has been dogged by injuries, turned down the opportunity. He has not started a league game for almost two years and played more games for Wales than Wolves last season, but last week he rejected the chance to join United on loan.
