Thursday 20th April 2000 : "One more big step" in redevelopment process

Colin Davies passed on some good news about the proposed stadium redevelopment today.

United's General Manager advises that notice has been received that the Secretary of State has approved our application to redevelop the ground which he described as "one more very big step".

The timing was appropriate as signatures to support Cambridge United's application to the Department of the Environment, Transport & the Regions (DETR) continued to flood onto the electronic petition hosted on U's Net.

The application still has to go to the DETR for the allotment land to be taken out of allotment use, and the process to do that is underway. An update will follow when Davies has an idea of time scales.
