Ben Mynott's report:
Another win and Cambridge have climbed to the heady heights of fourth in the table. My sister Mandy went, but as yet I've not heard her comments.
My Dad was confined to his sick bed all day, so he spent most of the afternoon tuned in to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. Here is his review of what
the radio said:
The match was described as a dire first half with some improvement in the second. Barnwell was booked in the first half and Trevor Peer thought it must have been for endeavour as he seemed to be the only player really trying on either side, quite an awful game he said. Nevertheless, Cambridge managed to score in injury time in the first half when Micah Hyde fed a ball into McGleish who skipped into the box on a diagonal run and smashed the ball into the net on the turn.
Tommy Taylor described it as one of the few times the team passed the ball in midfield and said it was a great goal.
In the second half Exeter got going although most of their play was longish balls down the middle. They "scored" two offside goals, had a shot blocked by Craddock and were denied by three very, very good saves from Barrett. One was full stretch tipping a Gayle shot over the bar. Peer and Tommy Taylor said Cambridge were never really in trouble, being quite quick at the back. TT said the only way Exeter were going to score was from a set piece.
Other chances in the second half from Cambridge included a fierce shot from Richards into the side netting and another through ball from Hyde to McGleish which ended in too tight an angle for McGleish to hit the net.
Quite a few comments about Richards - busy throughout, booked for dissent and a reference to his "custard" haircut.
Raynor came on for McGleish; TT said he pulled him off as he didn't work hard enough in the second half. Matt Joseph was described as very busy and Radio Cambridge's MOM. Micah Hyde "pulled the strings" in midfield. TT when asked to single out a player said "All 11".
Trevor Peer said they were a young, keen, fit and smashing bunch of lads. TT said the players were being very professional. The higher they go apparently the better their bonuses so he was pleased for them. We are now 4th, equal on points with the 3rd team and 3 behind the 2nd, 4 behind the 1st.

With thanks to Ben Mynott and his family for the report - no-one from the list travelled.
